They say things happen in threes.
I was supposed to be at our summer party that weekend. Instead, I found myself dealing with three entirely different matters.
The first involved an Instant Pot that decided the only three buttons it no longer wished to recognise were the exact three I actually used.
After a brief but unsuccessful attempt at negotiation, I accepted defeat and headed off in search of a warranty solution.
The warranty existed.
The solution did not.
Returning home with the still-broken appliance, I reversed into my usual parking spot and was immediately introduced to a wooden tripod recently installed by the gardeners to protect a tree.
Protect the tree it did, protect my car it did not!
The tree emerged from the encounter in excellent condition.
My rear bumper did not.
It was hanging off, dangling, yes.
Then came number three.
No hot water.
Blimey!
One broken appliance.
One damaged rear bumper.
No hot water.
Gee... I figured there would be no summer party for me after all.
The decision was quick.
I wasn't going anywhere.
All fixable in time.
All's well; ends well, I thought.
But not at this precise moment.
So no point huffing and puffing, just...
Have a coffee.
Catch my breath.
And carry on.
Three hours later, the day had improved considerably.
The rear bumper was repaired.
The hot water returned.
Only the Instant Pot remained under investigation.
Two out of three wasn't a bad result at all.
